In the survey 10.000 women were questioned about violence experiences in various life situations. The study, conducted from 2002 to 2004 by the Interdisciplinary Women's Research Center of Bielefeld University in Cooperation with the social research institute infas, was commissioned by the German Ministry of Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. 2:00 Results from the first German pilot-study "Violence against men"

The research team developed and tested an instrument for a representative study to survey the prevalence, circumstances and consequences of violence against men. The researchers consulted literature and conducted qualitative interviews with experts and with violence-affected men in order to develop this instrument. The presentation will give a review of the fields wherein men experience violence. It will offer estimates about the extent of violence against men and discuss future research needs. 4:00 From local innovation to standards of good practice? Evaluation of intervention projects against domestic violence in Germany

Since 1997, multi-agency co-operation has been emerging as a distinct methodology for addressing and overcoming domestic violence in Germany. The "WiBIG" group presents results from 6 years of continuous evaluation research on the process and the outcomes of intersectoral co-operation on the levels of the city, the region, and the "Land". Particular attention is given to: - development and implementation of legal reforms (police intervention, civil and criminal law); - innovative support services for direct and indirect victims; - perpetrator programs; - comparative analysis of different organizational models of cooperation.
